I’m Bored.
When was the last time you were bored?
When was the last time you admitted you were bored?
When was the last time you allowed yourself to be bored?
As we grow up we are taught to stay busy, we should never be bored, and there’s always something we can be doing at any given moment. However, the magic lies in the moments we allow ourselves to get bored. To give ourselves enough space to stop doing, and start being in a moment, have enough time to think, and let our minds wander.
Here are a few benefits of letting yourself get bored:
Sparks creativity and innovation: Boredom can be a catalyst for creativity and spark innovation. It provides us with the time and space to think outside of the box and come up with fresh, new ideas.
Improves problem-solving skills: Boredom hones our problem-solving skills. When we take a step back and reflect on a challenge, it can help us approach it from a different angle and find effective solutions.
Increases focus and concentration: When we're not constantly pulled in different directions, we can concentrate better and be even more productive.
Helps manage stress effectively: Taking a break from the fast-paced work environment can help us recharge and reduce our stress levels.
Enhances mindfulness and awareness: By focusing on the present moment and not getting caught up in distractions, we can become more mindful and aware of our thoughts and emotions.
It can be hard to “get bored”, especially for driven, high achievers. Start by creating some space in your schedule to “do nothing.” Remember what it felt like when you didn’t have a packed schedule, demands, or responsibilities? Let your mind wander, see what ideas may come up, what solutions you find without trying, how you can focus, where you relax, and how it feels to be in the present moment.
P.S. Getting bored will require you to stop binge-watching TV, scrolling endlessly on your phone, and turning off other convenient distractions 🛑

What I’m reading:
Don’t Keep Your Day Job by Cathy Heller. I find Cathy’s voice and stories so inspiring. Whether you are looking for a purpose, considering starting a new project, or need reminders of what is possible, I highly recommend this book. It is also my January 2023 book (I’m doing the 1 book per month challenge for 2023!) 📚
What I’m Watching:
The Last of Us - This show is really, really good. It can be a little gruesome because it is about zombies, but the story and acting are amazing, and each episode is so well done, even if it is heavy at times. I’m also happy that this is a very successful video game adaptation 🎮
Superbowl - LVII. Although I consider myself a Los Angeles Rams fan, I watched this event which proved pretty exciting. I definitely enjoyed Rihanna’s half-time show and found myself thinking how amazing she is as a musician, and also a mogul building very successful, inclusive companies that served real gaps in the beauty and fashion industry. She is impressive and inspiring. 🌟
