  • Relationships: The Average of Five
    There's a saying that goes, "You're the average of the five people you spend the most time with." Now, before you roll your eyes, think about it. The company we keep influences our behavior and decision-making more than we might realize.
    What you can do: Diversify Your Circle. Surround yourself with a variety of thinkers. As the quote goes, "You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with." Actively seek different perspectives, and they'll challenge your 'average' and elevate your leadership game.

  • Habits: The Power of Compound Averages
    Small, consistent actions lead to remarkable results. Think of it as the snowball effect of habits. Leaders take note:
    What you can do: Consistency is Key. A small change, done daily, has a ripple effect. It could be daily team feedback or personal reflection. Over time, these ripples create waves of positive change.

  • Decision-making: Averaging Opinions
    Have you ever noticed that a group's average opinion often hits closer to the mark than individual guesses? It's the "wisdom of crowds" in action.
    What you can do: Leverage Team Decisions. When stuck, seek input from the collective wisdom of your team, which might surprise you.

    Comfort lies in being average. But as leaders, we're in the game of growth and excellence, not comfort.
    What you can do: Set the Bar High. Challenge your team and yourself to become the benchmark, not just a mark on the scale.

Practical Tip: Kickstart a 'Habit Tracker.' It can be a chart or an app, but seeing your consistency visually is a game-changer. For leaders, this could mean days of giving feedback, learning, or even self-reflection.

In the vast sea of averages, let's not just float but make waves. Here's to understanding averages and then setting sails for the extraordinary!
